US journalist claims country ‘just lost a war with Russia’

(MENAFN) US journalist Tucker Carlson has stated that America has "lost a war" with Russia regarding the conflict in Ukraine, claiming that US officials are too arrogant to acknowledge this defeat. In an interview with Alex Jones, Carlson argued that Russia views the war as a proxy conflict with NATO, a perspective that some Western politicians, such as US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson, have publicly supported.

Carlson accused US policymakers of running the war through military and intelligence agencies, emphasizing that the conflict was never truly about Ukraine itself. He criticized the US for overstating its power, comparing the country's situation to an aging man trying to impress a younger woman, unaware of how absurd he appears. He warned that this kind of arrogance is how empires collapse.

Carlson also expressed concern about the risks of nuclear escalation, referencing a Pentagon assessment that once indicated a 50% chance of the Ukraine conflict escalating into nuclear war. He condemned any policymaker who would be comfortable with those odds, suggesting they should face criminal charges. Russian officials, including President Vladimir Putin, have stated that they would use all available means to defend against what they see as an existential threat from the West, though Ukraine and its supporters dismiss these statements as "nuclear blackmail."
