Many get wounded in stabbing assault in Germany

(MENAFN) Multiple people were injured in a knife attack at Hamburg’s central train station on Friday, local police confirmed. A 39-year-old woman was arrested at the scene. The attack took place around 6:05 p.m. on a platform just outside the station concourse near a waiting train.

While local media reported that at least 12 individuals were hurt, police have not yet confirmed the exact number. Some victims received treatment onboard trains at the station, according to Bild. Hamburg police stated on X that although official figures are pending, several people suffered life-threatening injuries.

Early investigations indicate the suspect acted alone, but the motive behind the attack remains unknown. Authorities have launched a large-scale police operation, with an ongoing inquiry into the incident. Officials said more information would be released soon.

Hamburg Central Station is among Germany’s busiest railway hubs, serving over 500,000 passengers daily. National rail operator Deutsche Bahn warned that train services would be disrupted due to the police response, causing delays and some cancellations.

This stabbing is the latest in a series of similar attacks reported across Germany this week.
