China-Vietnam Rail Service Restarts After Long Break

(MENAFN) Train T8701 departed from Nanning, the capital city of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in southern China, heading to Hanoi, Vietnam at 6:05 p.m. on Sunday. This journey marks the long-awaited restart of international passenger rail service between China and Vietnam following a suspension that lasted five years.

The Nanning-Hanoi international rail line operates every day, with the train departing Nanning promptly at 6:05 p.m. and scheduled to arrive in Hanoi at 6:30 a.m. the next morning. On the return leg, the train leaves Hanoi at 10:20 p.m. and reaches Nanning at 10:06 a.m. the following day, offering a convenient overnight travel option for cross-border passengers.

At present, tickets for this route are only available through offline channels. Passengers wishing to board the train must purchase their tickets in person using a valid passport at designated railway stations, including Guilin, Nanning, Chongzuo, and Pingxiang. Additionally, travelers are required to secure a paper visa or hold valid visa-free documentation before the journey, and must complete customs clearance at border stations ahead of departure.
