South Korea Imposes Travel Ban on Former Premier Han Duck-soo

(MENAFN) South Korean authorities have imposed travel bans on former Prime Minister Han Duck-soo and ex-Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Choi Sang-mok, citing allegations of insurrection, according to reports from multiple media outlets on Tuesday.

Both Han and Choi are currently under investigation for their suspected roles in an attempted insurrection and were officially barred from leaving the country earlier this month, sources confirmed.

The police’s special investigative unit took further action on Monday, summoning Han, Choi, and Lee Sang-min—the former Minister of the Interior who has been subject to a travel ban since December—for formal questioning.

All three former high-ranking officials are suspected of participating in a failed attempt to impose martial law, allegedly orchestrated by former President Yoon Suk-yeol. Yoon was ousted from office in April following growing controversy and political turmoil.
