Mexican President Vows to Protect Mexico’s Sovereignty Against U.S. Interference
During her routine morning press briefing, Sheinbaum emphasized that “the most important thing is the strength of the government” when it comes to blocking foreign intervention.
She added, “We have enormous strength, and that is because we have never betrayed, nor will we ever betray, the people of Mexico.”
Sheinbaum pointed out that the presence and operations of U.S. agents in Mexico have been under regulatory frameworks since the administration of her predecessor, Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador (2018-2024). This oversight has now been embedded in the Mexican Constitution.
Sheinbaum stated that U.S. agents are "very clear" about the rules governing their activities in Mexico, emphasizing that every foreign operative is required to obtain approval from Mexico's Foreign Ministry and comply with the country's laws.
