Moscow Confirms Receiving Ukraine’s Peace Memorandum Pre-Talks
Vladimir Medinsky, an advisor to President Putin and the designated leader of the Russian delegation for the upcoming Istanbul peace negotiations on Monday, informed Russian media that the proposal was provided in both Ukrainian and English versions.
Medinsky stated, “The Russian delegation previously received a version of the memorandum concerning a peaceful resolution from Ukraine.”
He emphasized that the language of the document posed no challenges and mentioned that several key elements of the draft had already been disclosed in Western media outlets.
Additionally, Medinsky confirmed that Russia would disclose its official position on the Ukraine matter on Monday.
Meanwhile, on Sunday, Ukraine’s president acknowledged that his administration aims to secure “at least some progress on the path toward peace” during the Istanbul discussions, despite the absence of a ceasefire proposal from the Russian side.
“The Russians have not shared their ‘memorandum’ with anyone. We don't have it, the Turkish side doesn't have it, and the American side doesn't have the Russian document either. Despite this, we will attempt to achieve at least some progress on the path toward peace.”
