Putin advisor suggests Trump not fully informed about Ukrainian ‘terrorist attack’
Despite Trump publicly condemning Russia’s missile and drone attacks on Ukrainian cities—calling Putin “absolutely crazy” and warning that he is “playing with fire”—Ushakov said in an interview that the Kremlin recognizes Trump’s criticism but believes the US president lacks a complete understanding of the conflict’s realities.
Ushakov emphasized that Trump appears unaware of the recent surge in large-scale Ukrainian attacks on peaceful Russian towns, noting that Trump only knows about Russia’s retaliatory actions. He stressed that Russian strikes focus solely on military and defense-related targets.
In recent weeks, Ukraine has significantly increased drone attacks deep inside Russia, which Moscow claims aim to disrupt ongoing peace efforts. The Russian Defense Ministry reported intercepting over 2,300 Ukrainian drones last week, mostly outside frontline zones. On Wednesday, Ukraine launched a major drone raid on Moscow and surrounding areas, downing 42 UAVs and causing damage to residential buildings, though no casualties were reported.
In response, Russia conducted precision strikes against Ukrainian military sites, including drone factories, warehouses, airfields, radar stations, and ammunition depots. Russian officials maintain that these strikes do not target civilian areas.
