Iran Signals Readiness to Nuclear Assurances
This development comes as U.S. Leader Donald Trump continues to demand that Iran completely halt its uranium enrichment activities.
Reports indicate that in March, President Trump issued a two-month ultimatum to Tehran to finalize a nuclear agreement with Washington, warning of possible “bombing” should Iran decline the offer.
This ultimatum was followed by a formal letter from the United States outlining its conditions, after five rounds of discussions held with the help of Oman’s mediation.
“We are ready to give assurances to all sides about peaceful nature of our nuclear program,” Araghchi, who leads Tehran’s delegation in the talks with the U.S., declared during a media briefing in Egypt on Monday.
On Sunday, Karoline Leavitt, the White House Press Secretary, announced that Steve Witkoff, the U.S. Special Envoy to the Middle East, had submitted “a detailed and acceptable proposal” to the Iranian government.
She emphasized that “it’s in their best interest to accept,” echoing Trump’s unwavering stance that “Iran can never obtain a nuclear bomb.”
