Trump Gives Hamas Four Days to Accept Gaza Peace Proposal
(MENAFN) The militant organization Hamas has been allotted a four-day period to agree to US President Donald Trump’s 20-point peace initiative for Gaza.
The White House revealed the plan during Trump’s meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday.
This peace blueprint demands an immediate ceasefire, a swap of hostages for prisoners, a gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces, and the establishment of a temporary international administration.
Additionally, it aims to transform Gaza into a “deradicalized, terror-free zone,” explicitly excluding Hamas from any form of governance.
When asked by a journalist about the timeframe Hamas has to respond, Trump replied, “we’re gonna do about three or four days,” emphasizing that the group had “not much” room for negotiation.
He added, “Hamas is either going to be doing it or it’s not, and if it’s not, it’s going to be a sad end.”
Later, during an address at the Marine Corps Base Quantico in the War Department, the president stated, “We have one signature that we need, and that signature will pay in hell if they don’t sign.”
He also made it clear that if Hamas refuses the plan or breaches it, Israel would have his “full backing.”
Prime Minister Netanyahu, who supports the initiative, warned that Israel would “finish the job” of eliminating Hamas if the group declines the proposal.
Hamas was not involved in the negotiations leading to the plan, which requires the group to disarm—a condition Hamas has consistently opposed, along with any proposals that do not recognize Palestinian self-determination.
