Gaza Bleeds: Nearly 20,000 Children Killed in Israel Bombardment

(MENAFN) Local authorities revealed on Sunday that Israel’s unfolding genocidal campaign in Gaza strip has claimed the lives of nearly 20,000 children since October 2023.

Gaza’s Government Media Office revealed that over 19,450 children’s bodies have been brought to hospitals, alongside the deaths of more than 12,500 women, including approximately 10,160 whose remains were recovered.

The statement further detailed that Israeli forces have devastated around 90% of Gaza’s land, gaining control of over 80% of the territory through the deployment of an estimated 200,000 tons of explosives.

Since the war’s onset two years ago, at least 1,670 medical workers, 140 civil defense personnel, and 254 journalists have lost their lives, the office reported.

In addition, the media office highlighted a severe humanitarian crisis, citing roughly 12,000 miscarriages among pregnant women in Gaza caused by starvation and a critical lack of medical care.

The office accused Israel of “systematically” targeting Gaza’s healthcare infrastructure, destroying or disabling 38 hospitals, 96 health centers, and 197 ambulances.

Religious and cultural sites have also been severely affected, with 835 mosques completely destroyed and 180 partially damaged. Three churches were attacked, 40 cemeteries demolished, and over 2,450 bodies reportedly stolen from burial locations.

The scale of housing destruction is staggering: approximately 268,000 homes were entirely razed, 148,000 suffered severe damage, and 153,000 were partially damaged, displacing more than 288,000 families. The majority of the 125,000 tents provided for shelter are now deemed uninhabitable.

Nearly two million Palestinians have been forcibly uprooted since the conflict began, with 293 shelters and displacement centers struck by Israeli attacks, the media office added.

Since October 2023, Israeli bombardment has claimed the lives of more than 67,000 Palestinians in Gaza, rendering the enclave unlivable and pushing the region toward famine amid a stringent blockade.
