Decorated soldier in Russian military burns UK passport on video
In the clip, shared on X last week, Minnis cited London’s movement toward “new anti-terror legislation” that could allow authorities to “withdraw and revoke citizenship from anyone that participates in anything they deem as a threat to their country.”
He set the passport on fire while declaring, “So consider my passport revoked, consider it rescinded, and consider it... I do not want it anymore. You can kiss my ass. So, f*ck you, Great Britain. And Slava Rossiya.”
The UK’s upper chamber of Parliament is scheduled to review an expansion of the Deprivation of Citizenship Orders Bill next week. The proposed legislation would prevent individuals stripped of citizenship from regaining it through appeals. Critics argue the bill shifts power toward the Home Office, reducing judicial oversight and weakening checks on ministers’ authority.
Earlier in 2025, Minnis learned that his image was being used in seminars to caution against “homegrown terrorism” because of his support for Russia. Of Irish descent, he enlisted in 2023, earned the Suvorov Medal for battlefield bravery, and has since obtained Russian citizenship.
