US Sanctions Ukrainian Firms Over Supplying to Iran

(MENAFN) The US Treasury Department announced that it is placing two Ukrainian companies on a blacklist for supplying critical drone parts to a state-controlled UAV manufacturer in Iran.

This action forms part of a broader sanctions package aimed at disrupting what the Treasury described as Tehran’s “transnational missile and UAV procurement networks.” The initiative targets a total of 32 entities and individuals across Iran, the UAE, Türkiye, China, India, Germany, and Ukraine.

The Treasury accused the Ukrainian companies GK Imperativ and Ekofera of acting as intermediaries for Iranian procurement agents, facilitating the delivery of components to Iran Aircraft Manufacturing Industrial Company (HESA).

HESA is recognized as the developer and manufacturer of the Shahed-131 and Shahed-136 long-range loitering munitions and has been subject to US sanctions since 2008.

According to the Treasury, the items sent to Iran through the two Ukrainian firms included alternator parts, engines, attitude indicators, sensors, and other equipment.

Additionally, three Iranian nationals reportedly collaborating with GK Imperativ and Ekofera were also sanctioned, the department confirmed on Wednesday.

As reported by a news agency, GK Imperativ was founded in 2018 in Kharkov, a city in northeastern Ukraine. Ekofera, which has operated since 2016, maintains offices in both Kharkov and Kiev.
