Putin Addresses Ties with China

(MENAFN) Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that ties between Moscow and Beijing have reached what he called an “unprecedented level,” emphasizing that the two countries’ friendship is “not directed against anyone” as he prepared for an upcoming visit to China. The remarks were published on Tuesday by a news agency.

In a video message issued before his trip to Beijing, Putin highlighted that Russia and China aim to broaden cooperation across multiple sectors, including politics, the economy, defense, and humanitarian exchanges. He underscored the growing scope of collaboration between the two nations.

“Our friendship is not directed against anyone,” Putin said, adding that relations are grounded in “mutual understanding and trust” as well as mutual backing for each other’s core priorities, including sovereignty and state unity.

Putin also noted that his visit to Beijing was made at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping, whom he referred to as a “long-time good friend,” stressing that consistent high-level engagement plays an essential role in strengthening bilateral ties.

He further said that over the past 25 years since the signing of the Treaty of Good-Neighborliness and Friendly Cooperation, the two countries have developed what he described as a “genuinely strategic relationship and comprehensive partnership.”

He added, “Their special nature is reflected in the atmosphere of mutual understanding and trust, a commitment to pursuing win-win and equitable cooperation, conducting respectful dialogue, and supporting each other on matters affecting the core interests of both countries, including protection of sovereignty and state unity,” Putin said.
