Qatar’s Emir, Trump Discuss Ongoing Mediation Efforts on US–Iran War
(MENAFN) Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani held a phone call with US President Donald Trump on Saturday, during which they discussed ongoing mediation efforts aimed at reducing tensions and advancing peace between the United States and Iran.
According to Qatar’s Amiri Diwan, the two leaders reviewed recent regional developments and broader international efforts focused on de-escalation, highlighting initiatives led by Pakistan to prevent further escalation and support stability in the region.
The discussion also emphasized the importance of continued dialogue to address outstanding disputes, maintain maritime security, and protect key global shipping routes and energy supply chains.
Sheikh Tamim reaffirmed Doha’s commitment to supporting peaceful diplomatic solutions and encouraging all parties to engage constructively in order to contain the crisis and promote long-term regional stability.
The call comes in the context of heightened tensions following earlier military strikes involving the United States and Israel against Iran earlier this year, which triggered retaliatory attacks and disruptions in regional maritime traffic, including concerns over the Strait of Hormuz.
