German Activists Target Arms Plants Over Weapons Supplies to Israel
The coordinated sit-ins were organized by the activist group Peacefully Against Genocide, which targeted several defense industry locations, including facilities operated by Rheinmetall and a site belonging to General Dynamics.
In Berlin, protesters gathered outside Rheinmetall's manufacturing plant in the Wedding district, obstructing entrances as part of the campaign against military supplies to Israel.
Laila Fuisz, a member of Peacefully Against Genocide, said in a statement that Palestinians had continued to lose their lives on a daily basis over the past three years.
“For three years Israel has been committing a genocide against Palestinians,” she said.
Fuisz criticized the German government for continuing to authorize arms shipments to Israel while manufacturers such as Rheinmetall maintain high production levels.
“International law clearly prohibits participation in genocide through weapons deliveries, but that does not stop the state from continuing to deliver weapons,” she said.
Explaining the rationale behind the demonstrations, Fuisz added: “We are blocking weapons factories because it is necessary – not to break a law, but to defend the rights of all and protect human lives.”
